Beginning as a one-time tour of four of Irish music's most brilliant players, two decades later Celtic supergroup Patrick Street has reached legendary status, with acclaimed tours and nine albums to its name, most recently On the Fly. "With the relaxed grace of masters," says the Boston Globe, "Patrick Street uses its breathtaking virtuosity to display this ancient music at its wild and humble best."
A truly magnificent fiddler, Kevin Burke (formerly of Bothy Band and Open House) brings to the band's sound and repertoire the highly ornamented Sligo style for which he is famous. One of the great balladeers of Irish music, Andy Irvine (Planxty) provides both soulful singing and unequalled bouzouki playing. Ged Foley's (Battlefield Band, the House Band) inventive guitar licks provide the ideal underpinning for Andy's intricate songs and the group's blistering sets of reels and jigs. Add to this the sensational fiddle and banjo work of John Carty (the group's newest member), and you're in for a truly mesmerizing show, the distillation of the very finest in traditional Irish music.
