Bruce Barthol has been the resident songwriter for the Tony Award winning San Francisco Mime Troupe for over three decades. The original bass player with Country Joe and the Fish, Bruce brings his arsenal of eclectic, satiric and political songs to The Freight on November 4th. Expect some special guests.
Bruce has played or recorded with: Country Joe and the Fish, Formerly Fat Harry, Ralph McTell, the Greenbriar Boys, Roy Harper, the East Bay Sharks, Scoop Nisker, the Energy Crisis, Barbara Dane, Pete Seeger, Rosalie Sorrels, Nina Gerber, Laurie Lewis, Danny Kalb, Arlo Guthre, Ozay Fecht, Dred Scott, Muziki Roberson, Dave Getz, the Original Country Joe Band, Phil Marsh, Will Scarlet, Bobby Keys and some others that have slipped his mind, and has seen his songs recorded by the Human Condition, the Edlos, the Funky Nixons, and many others.
Bruce has written for the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, Borderlands Theatre (Tucson), the Working Theater (New York), the Curious Theatre (Denver), University of Colorado (Boulder), University of Denver, Make-A-Circus, ACT, Intersection of the Arts, the Dick and Dubya Show, ODC-San Francisco, the Veterans of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade, and the Los Angeles Theater Center, as well as over 35 productions with the SF Mime Troupe.
