The Berkeley Old Time Music Convention cooks up yet another irresistible lineup, featuring the "old time supergroup" of Tom Sauber, Brad Leftwich, and Alice Gerrard; toe-tapping tradition bearers the Lee Stripling Trio; plus fabulous fiddler Heidi Clare. This evening is guaranteed to plant a grin on your face and a song in your heart!

Tom Sauber, Brad Leftwich, and Alice Gerrard have been making powerful music together since they joined forces in 1994. Known for her groundbreaking duo work with Appalachian singer Hazel Dickens, Alice is a legendary talent with a career spanning 40 years. One of the foremost old-time musicians of his generation, Brad's virtuoso fiddling was nurtured by traditional master musicians in the southern Appalachians, Oklahoma, and the Ozarks. Multi-instrumentalist Tom Sauber is considered one of the most versatile old-time musicians in the western U.S. In combination, the three offer stunning vocal harmonies, fiery playing, and a truly immense repertoire.

Lee Stripling sparks the grumpy to smile and the lazy to get up and dance with the same driving old-time fiddle sound that was the hallmark of his legendary father, Alabama fiddler Charlie Stripling. Still vibrant at 85, Lee plays cheerful tunes that reference the Great Depression and the cowboy songs of Bob Wills and the Sons of the Pioneers. Tonight he is accompanied by Bruce W.B. Reid and Bonnie Zahnow, from Seattle.

Kicking off the evening is ferocious fiddler Heidi Clare, who rose to prominence during the last decade as one of the founding members of the acclaimed touring and recording group, The Reeltime Travelers. While with the Travelers, Heidi's playing was heard on the soundtrack for the movie Cold Mountain, as well as on the fabled Down from the Mountain tour.
