For more than two decades violinist and composer Darol Anger has been reinventing the string ensemble to incorporate his explorations into American traditional, bluegrass, jazz, and world music in groups he helped found such as the Turtle Island String Quartet, the David Grisman Quintet, Psychograss, Newgrange, and Montreux.

With Republic of Strings cohorts—virtuoso flat-picking guitarist Scott Nygaard, four-time National Fiddle Champion Tristan Clarridge, and fantastic fiddler Tashina Clarridge, plus guest vocalist Chris Webster—Darol continues his explorations of the creative terrain where bluegrass, jazz, classical, pop, and various world musics mingle. Tonight these awesome musicians explode the limits of tradition and geography featuring tunes from their recent CD, Generation Nation (Compass), and assorted other exuberant mayhem.
