Singer-songwriter Audrey Auld Mezera and guitarist extraordinaire Nina Gerber join forces for an electrifying evening of tunes spotlighting Audrey's new CD, Lost Men & Angry Girls.

Audrey, a Tasmania-born Marin resident, got her start working with Australian country music legend Bill Chambers before setting out to pen her own vivid character-driven stories of heartbreak and heroes. "Music with the dirt left on" is how she describes her engaging "Americ-kinda" tunes, which combine traditional American country and folk influences with strong Australian roots. Whether humorous or poignant, Audrey's songs carry the ring of truth, and they're delivered with a beautiful, soulful voice and a great stage presence, all of which recently helped win her top honors in MerleFest's prestigious Chris Austin Song Contest.

With her precise, smoky playing, Sebastopol native Nina has spent the past two decades providing subtly brilliant guitar accompaniment to notable singer-songwriters from Kate Wolf to Nanci Griffith. Along the way, Nina has built herself a sterling reputation for her ability to deepen a song with beautiful, sensitive playing that never distracts from the fundamental feeling of the composition. Nina recently released a live duo CD with Audrey, In The House.

Tonight’s performance is sponsored by Bread & Roses, the bay area nonprofit that presents music performances to hidden audiences in places like homeless shelters and hospitals. Its May Around the Bay series provides an opportunity for the public to learn more about its programs from some of the organization’s volunteer performers such as Audrey and Nina.

Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Kurt Huget opens.
