"Now this land is so rich and it seems strange to me
that the black man whose labour has helped it to be
cannot enjoy the fruits that abound
is uprooted and kicked from his own piece of ground."
A famed singer-songwriter, poet, and storyteller, Jeremy Taylor was banned from his native South Africa in the 1960s for performing anti-apartheid songs, like the classic "Piece of Ground" from his renowned album, Ag Pleez Deddy. He relocated to England, where he became a well-known entertainer on the British folk circuit, with witty, powerful originals full of sharp observation, humor, and universal truths, like "Jobsworth," "Red Velvet Steering Wheel Cover Driver," and "Prawns in the Game."
Jeremy also had a successful career on the London stage, as an actor in various revues and as Spike Milligan's long-standing collaborator and performance partner, and numerous television appearances including his own BBC2 series. He has recorded 15 solo albums, most recently, Live in Chicago.
