Uniting three dynamic local Celtic performers, Greenbridge follows a
musical vision marked by innovation, style, and a palpable musical
chemistry. The band combines fiddle, viola, Irish whistles, guitar,
vocals, and percussion in a versatile mix that can be both driving and
tender, sporting rich arrangements and an inventive approach.
One of the West Coast's most talented and passionate fiddlers, Michael
Mullen (Tempest, Caliban) is as comfortable in front of a rock audience
as he is delivering a soulful solo air or song. Tom Wagner, known for
over three decades to loyal audiences as a member of the celebrated a
capella singing group Oak, Ash & Thorn, offers masterful vocals and
thoughtful guitar work. Tim Hart is a unique talent on the Irish
whistle, combining time-honored sounds and structure with modern
sensibilities, at times taking phrasing cues from jazz and swing. The
trio had played together informally for years, but in 2005 they decided
to focus their energies on this new band, incorporating their diverse
perspectives into the Irish musical tradition.
In the words of Michael, Tom, and Tim: "What's on the other side of the
bridge? You never know until you make that crossing."
Greenbridge will be joined tonight by special guests Shay and Michael Black.
