You’re invited to an evening with Si Kahn and Barbara Higbie. We’ll have great food and wine, a sampling of soul-nourishing music, time to talk personally with Si and Barbara, and information about the Freight’s New Home Campaign which will receive the proceeds from this fundraising dinner.
Si is a nationally renowned singer-songwriter and vocalist as well as a professional labor and community organizer, a life-long occupation and mission fueled by his concern and respect for mill workers, coal miners and other communities in the American South.
Barbara is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and championship fiddle player as well as a pianist and composer. She is renowned for her work as a solo performer and for her collaborative efforts with performers ranging from Teresa Trull and Rosalee Sorrels to the Kronos Quartet and Terry Riley.
Now in its 26th year, Venezia, which is graciously hosting this event, is Berkeley’s premier Italian restaurant, acclaimed for its great food, value, and atmosphere. Tonight we’ll offer a taste from Venezia’s menu which features a wide assortment of fresh pasta, meats and fish created under the able hand of chef Cindy Deetz.
Tickets are $60 per person, and include an additional ticket to either Si or Barbara’s performance at the Freight later this week (Si on December 10, Barbara on December 7 and 8 ) at no additional charge.
This special event is limited to 25 people. If you have any questions, contact our Development Director, Jeanne Friedman at 510-526-3767 or jeanne@freightandsalvage.org.
