Make sure you join New York-based singer-songwriter, Rachel Garlin, tonight for her first performance in her home town since last year's big send-off show!
Since she left for "the other coast," Rachel has been performing at the Lower East Side's premier music halls, and holding a regular gig in Greenwich Village. In June of this year, one of Rachel's newest songs, "Wartime Gig," earned her a spot at the Telluride Troubadour showcase in Colorado. Other honors include a 2004 first-place award in the Newport Folk Festival Talent Search, and the broadcast of her song, "Alternative Fuel," on National Public Radio's Car Talk. Her most recent CD, Big Blue Sky, was recorded live at the Freight.
Audiences from Albuquerque to Edinburgh have been drawn to Rachel's distinctive songs, with their eloquent character portraits and fresh approach to themes both classic and contemporary. Rachel's live performances combine story-filled songs with whimsical commentary on the ironies of life.
Opening the show tonight will be singer-songwriter Owen Roberts, a Bay Area native who also lives and performs in New York.
