The top contenders from WCS playoff events in eight regions (East Bay, Hollywood, Manteca, Napa, North Bay, Sacramento, San Francisco, and South Bay) take the Freight stage to present their winning original songs at this special concert, hosted by Nashville songwriter and longtime Freight favorite, Steve Seskin. Also appearing, as judge and special performer, is acclaimed recording artist and multi-platinum songwriter, Wendy Waldman. Rosalie Haworth, the popular host of KFOG's Acoustic Sunrise program, will also be judging the event.

The most active songwriters’ association in the U.S., WCS has spent almost three decades providing the environment, opportunities, and tools to nurture and promote songwriters. Among the extraordinary singer-songwriters actively involved in the WCS are Michael McNevin, Eoin Harrington, Pollyanna Bush, Marty Atkinson and, of course, Steve Seskin and Wendy Waldman.

An inspiring performer and an exceptional songwriter, Steve Seskin has been a Freight favorite since the 1970s. One of Nashville’s top songcrafters, Steve has had his songs, an eclectic blend of humor and pathos, love songs and looney tunes, recorded by scores of other artists, including John Michael Montgomery, Waylon Jennings and Tim McGraw.

Wendy Waldman’s songs have been recorded by Vanessa Williams, Crystal Gayle, Aaron Neville, Alison Krauss, and many others. She is also a leading record producers whose credits include the recent acclaimed New Grass Revival album, Friday Night in America.
