Ghanaian-American vocalist, guitarist, composer
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $17.50

With a unique musical style that fuses her Ghanian roots with American folk, jazz, and Latin rhythms, singer-songwriter Akosua Asiedua Mireku offers graceful songs that roam freely over great expanses of musical territory. Her undulating voice, deemed "champagne-sweet" by the East Bay Express, soars through poetic, introspective lyrics, backed by intricate, self-taught guitar stylings, creating music that is both poignant and deeply uplifting.

Born and raised in New York and New Jersey, Akosua now resides in Oakland. She has spent the past few years appearing at venues around the Bay Area, from S.F.'s Elbo Room to a live performance on KPFA's Transitions on Traditions show.
