"I just want to put the 'Yo!' back in yodel," explains Seattle artist Laura Love, an amazingly acrobatic singer, songwriter, and funk bassist whose infectious, thought-provoking musical concoctions of folk, bluegrass, gospel, blues, reggae, country, and hip-deep grooves have been described as "Afro-Celtic" and "Hip-alachian".
Tonight, Laura performs songs new and old, including tunes from her most recent CD, You Ain't Got No Easter Clothes (KOCH). The size and loyalty of her nationwide grassroots following is a testament to the power of Laura's music; she has also regularly been included in Billboard magazine's annual top ten lists, and was one of Utne Reader's 2003 "Artists Who Will Shake the World." Laura is joined tonight by her longtime collaborator Jen Todd, whose dusky, bluesy voice and energetic guitar augment the intense power of Laura's chant-filled, funk-inflected songs.
