Houston Jones returns for more! Audience members are advised to bring along personal fire extinguishers as this quartet of musical veterans ignites the evening with their sizzling, eclectic mixture of great originals and interpretations of grassroots Americana music. Offering a stellar blend of acoustic guitar-driven country-western tunes, roadhouse blues, folk ballads, flat-out-bring-the-roof-down rockers, and red-hot instrumentals, HJ puts a fresh, exciting stamp on everything they touch, in concert and on CDs like last year's Three Crow Town.
The foursome features the dazzling mile-a-minute flatpicking of former Waybacks and Hearts on Fire guitarist Glenn "Houston" Pomianek and the honky tonk vocals and guitar of Louisiana-born Travis Jones. Add to the equation two more Waybacks alums, Chris Kee on bass and drummer Peter Tucker, and you have a group that can comfortably embrace musical styles from bluegrass, country, folk, and gospel to blues, rock, and jazz, and barely break a sweat -- unlike their audience.
Chicago based J.T. & the Clouds open. "Half boogie piano, half Memphis soul, plus another half of folky swing . . .The trick that JT & The Clouds pull off is putting soul into the white roots sound, and being as talented at both sides of the equation." (Americana UK)
