Longtime Freight favorites Robin Flower and Libby McLaren present an evening of fabulous music, spotlighting tunes from their recent album, Steelhead in the Riffles. Robin's agile guitar, fiddle, and mandolin and Libby's high-energy grooves on piano and accordion set alive a repertoire of exhilarating, wild, and eerie original instrumentals inspired by Irish jigs, reels, and slipjigs, and American fiddle music and contradance forms.
Longtime bandmate Jan Martinelli on bass, fabulous fiddler Barbara Higbie, and adventurous percussionist Peter Maund backing the duo tonight. We even get a guest appearance by Camogie, Robin and Libby's new band with Danny Carnahan and Mary McLaughlin, which wowed the audience at last year's Freight Holiday Revue.
Provocative songwriters, powerful singers, and virtuoso instrumentalists, Robin and Libby redefine the boundaries of contemporary music with their progressive folk fusion of highly original songs influenced by a variety of world musical traditions. Always full of musical surprises, the pair offer inspired instrumental interplay spiced with humor, hope, and heart. Come along for what's sure to be an exhilarating musical ride!
