dynamic singer-songwriter
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $17.50

If you caught his opening sets for the past few Cheryl Wheeler concerts, you already know this: Kenny White is a singer-songwriter with a uniquely compelling voice, the sort of opener who leaves the audience wishing he'd play on a bit longer. Tonight this urban storyteller returns to the Freight for a long-awaited solo show, spotlighting songs from his new CD, Symphony in 16 Bars (Wildflower). Sophisticated, poignant, and direct, Kenny's piano-based, impressionistic folk rock songs combine haunting melody with acid observation, delivered with a sweet, vulnerable voice and leavened with wry humor.

Long a noted producer, composer and pianist in his native New York City, where he worked with folks like Shawn Colvin, James Taylor, and Emmylou Harris, Kenny set out only a few years ago into the realms of singer-songwriterdom. Lucky for us!
