Backed by her outstanding quartet, Ellen spotlights numbers from Mercy! Ellen Robinson Live, a collection of live performances, many of which were recorded at the Freight. Ellen will be performing songs by the likes of Thelonious Monk, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, and, of course, Mose Allison's "Everybody's Cryin' Mercy," as well as her own latest original compositions.

Ellen is a versatile singer with sparkling vocals and a captivating style. Known for her impeccable timing and clever phrasing, Ellen delivers a lively jazz repertoire full of surprises with a beautiful voice and her heart in every note. Also an esteemed music educator, Ellen is director of the Anything Goes Chorus and Swingshift Singers.

Ellen is joined tonight by Ben Flint on piano, Bud Spangler on drums, Sam Bevan on bass and Charles McNeal on reeds as she ranges through a wide spectrum of material and moods, revealing new facets of timeless standards and contemporary songs as well as her own innovative compositions.
