Elemental siren and evocative songwriter Eda Maxym presents an evening of musical alchemy, seductively fusing rock, funk, blues, and world music in selections from her long-awaited debut solo album, Imagination Club. A powerful torch singer with tremendous range and versatility, Eda is joined for the evening by global troubadour Stephen Kent on guitar, cello, didjeridu and percussion, as well as Nancy Kaspar on bass and drummer Jeff Mooney. Well-known from her work with global groove ensemble Trance Mission and folk/jazz/world music quintet Beasts of Paradise, Eda weaves elements from far-flung cultures into harmonious, vibrantly textured music.
Tonight’s performance features Eda’s originals plus interpretations of some of her personal favorites. "These past few years have been very intense, a time of great reflection and change," explains Eda. "These songs reflect what I see and feel, what I hope for, and what I celebrate in these challenging times."
For an extra treat, Stephen Kent opens the show, taking the audience deep into the heart of primal trance with a solo flight of groove-laden didjeridu rhythms.
