songs about real life sung with passion and precision
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $17.50

Last seen on the Freight stage as part of our recent Holiday Revue, Bay Area artist Caren Armstrong returns for a solo show, doing what she does best: one woman, one guitar, creating bouyant music straight from the heart. This dangerously honest, wickedly funny and disarmingly vulnerable songwriter is "one of those rare musicians who plays and sings music from its bones on out," in the words of The Waybacks' Steve Coyle. In concert and on albums like her recent The Truth Stays True (Wildplum), Caren's songs transcend the self-revelatory and speak universally to the human condition in all its humor and outrage.

Her playing style references folk, country, blues, jazz, traditional and pop music, yet is distinctively her own.

Tonight Caren previews new material from her upcoming CD, digs into the old favorites and maybe even takes a few requests. On the wings of her fine guitar chops and soaring vocals, this "small but mighty" redhead is sure to leave no emotional stone unturned.
