Unparalleled interpreter of Americana music since long before that genre even had a name, Maria Muldaur has spent over four decades unleashing her soulful vocals on a dizzying range of songs. From her early days in the Jim Kweskin Jug Band through her deep explorations of New Orleans jazz, Western swing, gospel, country blues and more, Maria's sultry vocals have brought back into the spotlight some of the finest roots music around.
The recipient of three Grammy nominations and numerous other awards, Maria has released an array of acclaimed albums, most recently Sweet Lovin' Ol' Soul (Stony Plain Records), a salute to the great woman blues singers like Memphis Minnie, Bessie Smith and Lucille Bogan.
As great as her albums are, however, Maria's live performances are simply not to be missed: part infectious fun, part down-home revival and part deeply satisfying antidote to contemporary mass media culture.
