cutting edge innovation
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $17.50

Offering a vibrant synthesis of world and roots music with jazz, classical, and pop sensibilities, the Real Vocal String Quartet regales their audience with a groove-filled concoction of violins, viola, cello, voices, thumps, thunks, and plucks. Founded by Irene Sazer, an original member of the Turtle Island String Quartet, the music is a stirring mix of genre-hopping originals and arrangements. From Kenyan songs and Brazilian choros to American and Irish fiddle tunes, the group travels the world, voices weaving in and out, percussion and rhythm on string instruments adding spice to the sound.

Diversely talented violinist, composer, arranger and vocalist, Irene, is joined by violinist and violist Dina Maccabee (Aurora Septet, Charming Hostess), cellist Jessica Ivry (Shotgun Wedding), and violinist Kate Stenberg (Del Sol String Quartet, San Francisco Symphony).
