Twenty-five years after he left the Bay Area, David Bromberg is still fervently remembered by hordes of fans who never got enough of his remarkable music. An innovative guitarist whose electrifying, acrobatic playing has earned him both critical and popular acclaim, David spent the early part of his career performing with a diverse list of recording artists including Bob Dylan, Chubby Checker, Tom Paxton and Jerry Jeff Walker, before going solo.
David's singular style ranges through pretty much every region of contemporary American music, from bluegrass to blues, from jazz to rock and beyond. He's also a remarkable entertainer who bans set lists from his spontaneous shows, in which any number of unexpected things can happen, and usually do (the San Francisco Chronicle, commented that "He still seems to have the most fun when the act is on the verge of losing control").
In 2003, David released David Bromberg Quartet: Live New York City 1982, an album that captures the energy of his live shows, propelled by the intense give-and-take between the performers and by David's inimitable stage presence. Tonight he plays with his quartet, which features longtime cohorts Butch Amiot (bass) and Jeff Wisor (violin), plus newcomer Mitch Corbin on mandolin. He lives in Delaware now, folks, so don't miss the chance to see this amazing performer while he's here!
