A Scottish-born, naturalized citizen of Australia and a natural southpaw, Eric Bogle has given the world some of its most powerful anti-war anthems. His haunting songs like the much-recorded "And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda," "A Reason for It All" and "The Green Fields of France" prompted the Australian government to present Eric with its Peace Award in 1986 and the Order of Australia for his contributions to that country's music heritage in 1987.
Sardonic, self-deprecating, touching and hilarious, Eric's compositions range from the ridiculous to the sublime. On his latest album, The Colour of Dreams, as in his concerts, Eric tackles issues like global greed, terrorism and asylum seekers, while encompassing love, courage, wistfulness, whimsy, and wit to spare.
Tonight, Eric will be joined by his and his long-time accompanist, guitarist John Munro.
