The son of a vaudeville magician, Don Edwards fell under the spell of the cowboy life early on, teaching himself guitar and chasing the rodeo and working ranches in Texas and New Mexico during his teens. Nowadays, with a few more decades under his 10-gallon hat -- not to mention a host of honors like the five Cowboy Hall of Fame Western Heritage Wrangler Awards he's won for Best Traditional Music and a 2003 Grammy nomination for the album he recorded with Peter Rowan, High Lonesome Cowboy -- Don is undeniably the country's premier cowboy troubadour.
Capturing the authenticity of the songs with his spare guitar work and his rich baritone voice, Don enriches our vision of the American West with his deep knowledge and love for his craft. In his tales of the day-to-day lives and emotions of those who lived it, his ballads paint a sweeping landscape, keeping alive the sights, sounds, and feelings of this most American contribution to culture and art. Don recently released a double CD set, Saddle Songs II: Last of the Troubadours (Western Jubilee).
