Shay, Michael, and Martin Black celebrate St. Patrick's Day Eve with their traditional Freight concert, brimming with lilting harmonies, catchy rhythms, infectious humor, and great audience rapport.
Scions of Ireland's famous singing Black family (which also includes sisters Frances and Mary), the brothers salute the wearing of the green with their three strong voices, solo or in beautiful tight-knit harmony, adroitly accompanying themselves on various instruments, with their band, featuring keyboardist Bryan Seet, cellist Myra Chaney, and fiddler Mariel Vandersteel, adding to the overall richness of the group's multifaceted sound.
Whether performing haunting ballads, sea chanties, lively dance tunes, or sing-along favorites like "Down Our Street" and "The Great Storm is Over," the brothers always reflect a pure, unalloyed joy of sharing the music drawn from their family's rich heritage. Last year, the Black Family released an album of traditional and contemporary songs, Our Time Together.
