Edgy and ever-intense, singer-songwriter Melissa Ferrick is famous for
magnetic live shows that set fire to the potent folk-rock tunes showcased
on albums like last year's The Other Side. Navigating through the
realms of heartache, rebel-love, and soulful self-examination, Melissa's
performances unleash a captivating persona described by the Boston
Phoenix as "The soul of an ancient high priestess with some banshee and
amazon thrown in for good measure."
After a stint studying bass
guitar on a scholarship at Berklee College of Music, Melissa began
performing in coffeehouses in 1994. She soon wound up in Boston,
where she won Best Folk Rock Band at the 1999 Boston Music Awards for
the album Everything I Need.
In the years since, she has
continued to build a loyal following with the powerful, dextrous guitar and
vocals that push her music well over the edge of familiar folk confines.
