virtuoso guitar duo
Door 7:30pm, Music 8:00pm | Purchase advance tickets: $18.50

Fresh from releasing a sizzling new duo album, Bayshore Road (Favored Nations), Peppino D' Agostino and Stef Burns bring their sensitive interplay and furious virtuosity to the Freight stage tonight in a collaboration that celebrates the melodic and rhythmic joys of the acoustic (Peppino) and electric (Stef) guitars.

Praised by Guitar Player magazine for "the poetry and elegance of his bouyant, graceful compositions," Italian-born steel string guitarist Peppino D'Agostino combines technical prowess with a rich, lyrical approach. Dynamic rhythms, unconventional tunings, and evocative melodies mark Peppino's compositions, and he's known for his distinctive method of playing the fretboard with the left hand while simultaneously creating percussive effects with the right.

Oakland-born Stef Burns got his first guitar at age seven and started his first band when he was nine -- and he hasn't slowed down since. Over the years, this nimble-fingered jazz/rock fusion guitarist has played with a staggering range of folks, from Michael Bolton to Alice Cooper to Huey Lewis and the News, and many more. He is frequently seen around the Bay Area with his band, the Stef Burns Group.
