An Irish Christmas in America
Door 7:30pm, Music 8:00pm | Purchase advance tickets: $19.50

Join traditional Irish band Teada in celebrating the season at a special Irish Christmas in America performance! In addition to the lively music of this masterful young band, the program of seasonal Irish culture features vocalist Cathie Ryan, Irish harpist Grinne Hambly, uilleann piper Tommy Martin and narrator Lisa Lambe. An atmospheric journey through some of Irelands more enchanting festive customs, the evening includes a reenactment of the Wren Boys tradition and the lively rhythms of local step dancers, mingled with the contemporary artistry of the first-class musical lineup.

As heard on their 2004 release, Give Us a Penny and Let Us Be Gone (Green Linnet), the youthful band Teada plays stylish, intelligent music, its sense of fun balanced by beautiful moments of subtle delicacy. The dynamic unison playing of acclaimed County Sligo fiddler Oisin MacDiarmada and flutist Damien Stenson are backed by guitar and bouzouki from Sean McElwain, first-rate button accordion from Paul Finn, and the bodhran of Tristan Rosenstock.

Irish American vocalist, Cathie Ryan, is perhaps best known for her acclaimed seven-year tenure as lead singer of Cherish the Ladies. With her crystalline vocals and insightful lyrics, Cathie has established herself as one of Celtic musics most popular singer-songwriters.
