folk & bluegrass music's man for all seasons
Door 7:30pm, Music 8:00pm | Purchase advance tickets: $19.50

Peter Rowan is a soulful singer and an incomparable guitar and mandolin player fluent in any number of genres. He began his professional career in the mid-1960s when he left his native Massachusetts to sing lead and play guitar with Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys. In the 1970s he settled in the Bay Area, where he performed and recorded with rock-fusion innovators Seatrain, and formed the ground-breaking group Old and in the Way with David Grisman and Jerry Garcia.

Ranging from Tex-Mex to old-time country, Celtic, rock & roll to jazz fusion and world music, Peter continues to stretch artistically -- his latest albums are a collaboration with flat-picking guitar virtuoso Tony Rice, You Were There For Me (Rounder), and a reggae-bluegrass fusion project titled Reggaebilly! A poignant songwriter, his classic originals include "The Walls of Time," co-written with Bill Monroe, and the 1970s anthem "The Free Mexican Air Force."
