Innovative San Francisco string band, The Crooked Jades are on a mission
to reinvent old-time music, pushing boundaries and blurring categories
with their fiery performances of driving dance tunes and haunting ballads.
Playing dark, soulful americana music that predates the evil influence of
commercial radio, the Jades' spirited vocals and high lonesome harmonies
are framed by performances on an amazing array of vintage and eclectic
instruments, in their shows and on CDs like their recent The
Unfortunate Rake, Volume 2: Yellow Mercury (Copper Creek). It is,
however, this group's unique mingling of attitude and respect that infuses
their great arrangements of obscure old tunes and beautiful original
compositions with a thrilling energy that sets them apart from many old-
time bands.
The Crooked Jades are Jeff Kazor (guitar/vocals),
Jennie Benford (mandolin/guitar/vocals), Adam Tanner (fiddle/vocals),
Erik Pearson (banjos/slide guitar/vocals), and Megan Adie (bass/vocals).
