One of the most refreshing new voices to arrive in americana music in
recent times, melodious singer-songwriter, clawhammer banjo player, and
organic gardener Adrienne Young presents a disarming mixture of old-
timey and bluegrass sounds with a youthful edge. In concert and on
albums like her new The Art of Virtue, Adrienne applies a worldly
compassion, a poet's pen, and an independent spirit to songs about
choices and consequences, cultivation and stewardship.
"There
seems to be a growing passion...to understand the foundation of our
American culture and how we've turned from that," states Adrienne, a
seventh generation Floridian. "Personally, it steered me back toward a
time when our country was rooted in agrarian ideals and words were
powerful enough to begin a new world." Tonight she's accompanied by
the quartet, Little Sadie, featuring percussionist Steven Sandifer, guitarist
Tyler Grant, bassist Amanda Kowalski, and fiddler Clayton Campbell.
