The music of the late Phil Ochs shaped an entire generation. When he tragically took his own life in 1976, he left behind over 100 songs which continue to be performed by musicians of conscience around the world. His classics like "Changes," "There But For Fortune," and "I Ain't Marching Anymore" remain as relevant and inspiring today as they were back in the '60s.

Tonight, a lineup of fabulous artists carries on the tradition by bringing Phil's music to the Freight stage in an evening celebrating this great artist and activist.

The tribute performance features Phil's close friend and musical cohort in the mid-'60s Greenwich Village folk scene, the acclaimed singer-songwriter Eric Andersen. Eric's career, spanning over 30 years, includes 21 albums of original songs, and numerous tours of North America, Europe, and Japan. His songs have been recorded by artists all over the world, including Judy Collins, Fairport Convention, Peter Paul and Mary, Rick Nelson, Linda Ronstadt, The Grateful Dead, and Francoise Hardy. This month Eric will release his 22nd album, The Street was Always There, a collection of songs written by himself, Phil, and others, that people first heard in the streets, cafes, and clubs of Greenwich during the 1960s and '70s.

Also featured in tonight's celebration are SONiA of disappear fear, Boston singer-songwriter Greg Greenway, high-energy singing duo Magpie, engaging folk duo Kim and Reggie Harris, powerful activist performers Pat Humphries and Sandy O, inspirational singer David Roth, riveting performer and multi-instrumentalist Tom Prasada-Rao, and spellbinding storytelling singer John Flynn, with Phil's sister, Sonny Ochs, acting as host. It's sure to be an inspirational night, with each performer singing one of Phil's songs and one original, interspersed with plenty of anecdotes and reflections on Phil's life and legacy.
