leading Irish fiddler with stellar guitar accompanist
Door 7:30pm, Music 8:00pm | Purchase advance tickets: $16.50

Famed County Clare fiddler, Maeve Donnelly, plays traditional Irish jigs, reels, and airs with a precise, intense touch steeped in the rich musical heritage of her birthplace, East Galway. A three-time All-Ireland Fiddle Soloist known for her powerful technique, crisp ornamentation, and undiluted playing that can switch from fiery to feathery in an instant, Maeve established herself on the international scene in the '90s with the Ennis-based band, The Moving Cloud, of which she was a founding member, and with a more recent, self-titled solo album.

Tonight Maeve is joined by Steve Baughman, a pioneering fingerstyle guitarist known for his emotive treatments of Celtic fiddle and harp tunes. Steve's impeccable playing is characterized by a strong melodic presence and a smooth, lyrical style enhanced by a variety of unusual open tunings. An American born and raised in Southeast Asia, Steve (who now resides in San Francisco) derives his musical style primarily from British Isles fiddlers, particularly Martin Hayes. His latest solo album, The Angel's Portion (Solid Air), is a selection of Celtic, Appalachian and Swedish tunes, plus traditionally flavored originals. Steve has also published numerous instructional materials, including a recent Mel Bay book/CD, Frailing the Guitar.
