pure, essential surf music . . . unplugged
Door 7:30pm, Music 8:00pm | Purchase advance tickets: $15.50

Surf's up at the Freight tonight as the Duo-Tones, Paul Johnson (formerly of the Belairs, Packards, and Surfaris) and Gil Orr (formerly of the Chantays), play pure, essential surf music like you've never heard it before. Smooth and easy as a beach side sunset, playful as a post-siesta breeze, this is the real stuff: no drums, no bass -- just two surf masters and their guitars. Providing refreshing takes on classics like "The Wedge," "Pipeline," "Mr. Moto," and "Walk, Don't Run," Paul and Gil's exquisitely delicate, fluid playing uncovers the clean, melodic essentials of the music. The duo has released two albums, Surf Music Unplugged (Hep Cat), and last year's Plugged In And Live.
