cool mountain jazz
Door 7:30pm, Music 8:00pm | Purchase advance tickets: $16.50

With its entertaining blend of smooth, Latin, and retro-vibe jazz, along with a liberal dose of R&B, the Jazz Party Project offers a sophisticated evening to round out Mother's Day. Led by Scott Durbin on flugelhorn and trumpet, the septet is an eclectic group of musicians from the thriving cool jazz scene of the Mount Shasta area performing original music plus jazz standards "with a twist." Also featured are keyboardist, Greg Jones and hot scat singer, Ariah Firewalker, Terry Lawhorn on guitar, Richard Lucas on bass, Doug York on drums, and former Berkeley Symphony member, James Pierce on trombone. Scott, whose performances are marked by his mellow tone horn styles, recently released his debut solo album, Pass It On, an eclectic mix of originals and standards spotlighting his abundance of good time humor and an approach to the genre that is as fresh and cool as a breeze off the face of Mount Shasta.
