blues visionary
Door 7:30pm, Music 8:00pm | Purchase advance tickets: $16.50

One of the most impressive singer-songwriters mining the blues idiom, Otis Taylor tackles the darkest and most ambitious of themes, setting his riveting stories to evocative, minimal music. His visionary cross-cultural folk style explores the blues roots of a wide range of American traditional music, offering, in the words of Blues Review writer, Ed Ivey, "A beautiful lesson about the contribution of black people to America's history." Otis' fourth album, Truth Is Not Fiction (Telarc), placed in the Top Ten lists of music critics at the Washington Post and New York Times and won four 2004 W.C. Handy Blues Award nominations (Otis already won the W.C. Handy Blues Award for Best New Artist in 2002). Based in Boulder, Colorado, Otis offers a powerful solo performance featuring his dusky, soulful voice, as well as his fine guitar, slide guitar, banjo, and harmonica talent.
