Latin jazz to stimulate the senses
Door 7:30pm, Music 8:00pm | Purchase advance tickets: $16.50

Latin music Renaissance man John Santos and his quartet ignite the Freight stage with an evening of Afro-Latin fireworks, featuring Cuban timbales/bongos legend, Orestes Vilato and charismatic vocalist, Orlando Antonio Torriente, as well as bassist Saul Sierra and pianist Marco Diaz. One of the world's foremost exponents of Afro-Latin music, master percussionist John is known for his innovative use of traditional forms and instruments in combination with contemporary music. (His cutting-edge Machete Ensemble -- nominated for a Grammy for their 2002 album SF Bay -- is largely responsible for lighting the fire of Latin jazz in the Bay Area.) Tonight, John and his group of stellar musicians shed light on the history of the irresistable, highly popular potion that's been brewing ever since Jazz and Latin music first came together in New Orleans a century ago. Come watch the sparks fly -- we dare you to try and sit still!
