Australian sensation, Fruit, offer an evening of heart-lifting ballads, growling blues, sensual torch songs, and rocky liberation anthems, all with exquisite harmonies and an unstoppable Adelaide groove. Winners of numerous awards including Most Popular Band at last year's South Australian Music Awards, the quintet features three frontline women -- Sam Lohs, Mel Watson, and Susie Keynes, two of them wielding guitars and the other a unique arsenal of horns -- whose dramatic vocal blend is backed by the funky bass of Brian Ruiz and gutsy drums of Yanya Boston. They describe themselves as an acoustic pop band, but Fruit's infectious music digs deep from genres far and wide, incorporating funk, blues, and rock. Everywhere from WOMAD to Austin's South X Southwest to Edinburgh's Fringe Festival, Fruit has gotten rave reviews for their high-energy live performances, as featured on their most recent album, Live at the Basement.
