insightful & amusing original folk
Door 7:30pm, Music 8:00pm | Purchase advance tickets: $15.50

A seven-time winner for Best Song from West Coast Songwriters, Gil Stancourt, aka the Urban Acoustic Dude, weaves catchy melodies with lyrics that are profound, clever, and often amusing. A veteran folk-rocker (and Freight night manager), The Dude has an innate ability to traverse seamlessly between the heartbreakingly poignant and the hysterically funny. His heartfelt songs like "Grandpa's Mandolin" will move you to tears, while his firm grasp of the absurd is demonstrated in "Elvis' Drive-thru Chapel of Love."

Accompanying The Dude tonight are some of the Bay Area's finest musicians: Gerry Grosz on piano, Cisco Ochoa and Steve Baker on guitars, Dave Schorr on bass and Paul Herzoff on harmonica. Gerry, who recently took top honors in a West Coast Songwriter's competition, will open the show.
