contemporary bluegrass at its finest
Door 7:30pm, Music 8:00pm | Purchase advance tickets: $15.50

Voted Guitar Player of the Year in 2001 by the International Bluegrass Association, Kentucky-born Jim Hurst is one of the most versatile guitarists and vocalists in the business. On stage, as on albums like his recent Second Son (Pinecastle Records), Jim performs a tasty, genre-crossing repertoire of original compositions and classics. With a style influenced as much by Chet Atkins as by Doc Watson, he's as comfortable playing complex fingerstyle leads as he is with red-hot flatpicking pyrotechnics, reflecting years spent playing bluegrass, country, rock, and blues with numerous artists including Holly Dunn, Trisha Yearwood, and Grammy nominee Claire Lynch. Tonight Jim is joined by a stellar band, featuring some familiar faces: multi-instrumentalist Steve Smith, banjo artist Bill Evans (Bluegrass Intentions, David Grisman Bluegrass Experience, Due West), fiddler Megan Lynch (Due West), and bassist Cindy Browne (Wake the Dead, Due West).
