Known for their amazing digital dexterity and soulful singing, Dix Bruce and Jim Nunally are a duo in the true down-home style: two beautifully blended voices and two acoustic guitars, mixing folk, bluegrass, and country. Tonight this pair of award-winning guitarists bring their warm humor, exceptionally tight harmonies, intricate arrangements, and hot flatpicking to the Freight stage, playing selections from their brand-new fourth album, Brothers At Heart (FGM), a tribute to the music of classic country "brother duets." As always, Dix and Jim balance deep respect for older country music with a distinctive, energetic approach that makes standards like "Dark Hollow," "Eight More Miles to Louisville," and "Banks of the Ohio" sound fresh and timeless. A Bay Area musician, composer, and teacher, Jim's music roots stretch back three generations to his guitar-playing grandfather; Dix's warm stage personality, along with his driving rhythm and lead work, set the tone for the duo's performances.
