album release celebration w/ Nina Gerber, Cindy Browne, Scott Nygaard, John Reischman, Amy Stenberg & Brian Wickland
Door 7:30pm, Music 8:00pm | Purchase advance tickets: $15.50

Acclaimed songwriter, incandescent vocalist, and guitarist Kathy Kallick celebrates the release of a new album, Reason & Rhyme (Copper Creek), with the support of a stellar lineup of musical cohorts from the recording. Known for infusing traditional bluegrass with refreshingly original sensibilities (she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the California Bluegrass Association in 2001), Kathy's new album finds her turning off the bluegrass highway to explore a series of new compositions within a contemporary folk setting. Something of a sequel to her highly-regarded 1993 album, Matters Of the Heart (Sugar Hill), the new recording displays all the familiar hallmarks of Kathy's music -- passion and humor, literate and lyrical storytelling, a deep understanding of human nature, and refreshing originality -- ranging beyond bluegrass to incorporate a variety of musical influences. Joining Kathy on stage are an outstanding group of musicians, including not one but two guitarists extraordinaire -- Scott Nygaard and Nina Gerber -- plus Cindy Browne on acoustic bass, John Reischman on mandolin, Amy Stenberg on harmony vocals, and Brian Wicklund on fiddle.
