Join three Bay Area guitar masters for a border-crossing evening of string wizardry! Patrick Landeza showcases classics and originals in the slack-key style. One of the few mainlanders accepted in the close-knit circle of top Hawaiian guitarists, Patrick carries on the distinctive, traditional ki ho'alu fingerpicking style, named for the alternate tuning, or "slacking" of the strings, which produces a beautiful, resonant tone. One of the Bay Area's most respected and influential fingerstyle guitarists, Dale Miller coaxes a sweet and mellow tone from his custom Martin and vintage National steel-body, resonator. He applies his seemingly effortless, technically superb style to blues, ragtime, jazz, and opera (!) standards, as well as to his originals. Weaving together folk, jazz, classical, and world music influences, many of Teja Gerken's compositions employ alternate tunings, two-handed tapping, and percussive effects; others simply rely on his keen sense of melody and movement. Teja's repertoire, while focusing on his fiery originals, is augmented by Irish traditionals, jazz standards, and improvisations on themes by classical composers.
