Jenna Mammina is a singer of great imagination and artistry. Derk Richardson of the Bay Guardian writes: "She is equally at home with contemporary pop material and jazz standards. Evincing a fundamental purity of tone and communicating a sincere belief in what she sings, she sustains that delicate balance of pop music and fine art." That balance, Jenna believes, is a reflection of the diverse ethnic, cultural, and creative atmosphere in which she grew up, in St. Joseph, Michigan. Moving to the Bay Area in the mid-1980s, Jenna became immersed in both the jazz scene and the women's music community, and launched a touring career that takes her to cabarets and theaters throughout the country. She also released two albums, Meant to Be and Under the Influence, which reflect the daring breadth of her musical tastes and her command of a broad range of styles, from Duke Ellington to Steely Dan and U2. |
