Long respected in the realms of jazz and New Age music for his innovative, uniquely percussive style of guitar playing, San Francisco-based fingerstyle pioneer Danny Heines recently began experimenting with bringing together his dazzling guitar work and expertise on the Indian basuri flute with his love for poly-rhythms and the amazing musical palette available through body percussion and throat singing (he's one of the handful of Americans who are adept at this Central Asian art). Diverse musical influences from all over the globe, from Eastern Europe to Africa, inform Danny's complex, multi-layered compositions as he forges new, fresh directions in musical expression. This evening, Danny, joined by woodwind virtuoso Paul McCandless and singers Joey Blake and David Worm, presents new material and selections from his fifth album, What Worlds They Bring. |
