Whether playing early Johnny Cash covers, sizzling classics, or his own first-rate originals, Rockabilly Hall of Famer Rusty Evans and his band Ring of Fire are sure to knock your socks off with their rollicking fusion of country, folk, and rockabilly music. Since this Brooklyn native's years of recording rockabilly and folk rock singles in the 50's and time spent jamming in the Greenwich Village folk cafes with the likes of (a then-unknown) Bob Dylan in the early 60's, through a stint with the New Christy Minstrels and a period of producing psychedelic rock bands like the Third Bardo, Rusty has been honing his writing skills and formidable stage presence. More recently, Rusty spent several decades in California pursuing a highly successful visual art career (as Marcus Uzilevsky), before bursting back on the music scene with his recent CD, Ring of Fire. Tonight, Rusty's strong vocals and rhythm guitar are backed by a stellar band named for the perennial Johnny Cash classic, including Danny Uzilevsky on hot lead guitar, with Carrick Monteque on bass and Chris Lockheed on drums.
