With her superb poetic imagination and alluring, rootsy mixture of folk, gospel, and country styles, it's hard to believe that Boston singer-songwriter Kris Delmhorst picked up her first guitar only six years ago. She's certainly already made her presence felt in the acoustic music scene, winning first place at the 2001 Telluride Bluegrass Festival's prestigious Troubador Competition and three nominations in the 2002 Boston Music Awards, including best singer-songwriter album for her 2001 recording, Five Stories. Whether she's singing delicate ballads, back-porch foot-stompers, or midnight lullabies, Kris's charm, intelligence and warm, expressive voice illuminate her music with grace.
San Francisco native, Noe Venable is a young storyteller with a vibrant imagination and a hypnotic voice. She sings off-beat folk/rootsy songs in a language of vivid pictures and emotion, exploring with curiosity, compassion, and a theatrical flare the rich world of the lost and forgotten. Noe's lonely acoustic guitar, along with Alan Lin's classically trained violin and Todd Sickafoose's innovative bass, punctuate Noe's vivid imagery with inventive musical textures. The trio's live performance is featured on Noe's recent album, Down Easy (Petridish). |
