Two-time International Bluegrass Music Assocation's Bass Player of the Year, clawhammer banjo virtuoso, nimble-footed Appalachian clog dancer, hamboner extraordinaire, and all-around exuberant entertainer that he is, it would be quite an understatement to say that Mark Schatz knows how to put on a good show. A prominent figure in the Nashville new acoustic music scene, Mark has collaborated with an impressive array of artists, as a member of Bela Fleck's Tasty Licks and Spectrum, the Tony Rice Unit, and Tim and Mollie O'Brien's O'Boys, to name a few. Mark is also the musical director for the internationally-acclaimed Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble, which showcases clawhammer banjo and Southern Appalachian clog dancing. In addition to his acclaimed work on the albums of everyone from Mark O'Connor to Emmylou Harris, Mark has one solo recording, Brand New Old Tyme Way, on Rounder Records. |
