Born in Munich, Germany, fusion guitarist-turned-singer/songwriter Leni Stern first made a name for herself at 17, when she formed an acting company whose radical productions sold out houses across Europe. In 1977, she came to the US to study at the Berklee College of Music, then moved to New York City where she spent a decade and a half gaining a reputation as a rock and jazz guitarist before stepping out five years ago as a singer and balladic songwriter. Darkly colored and direct, Leni's songs are sometimes challenging, but always compelling, in their emotional honesty; her rangy, vulnerable vocal style and subtle, expressive guitar work provide the perfect complement. Tonight she'll be presenting songs from her recently released latest album, Finally The Rain Has Come. |
