klezmer troupe celebrates release of its new album

Come let the Red Hot Chachkas Klezmer Band swing you, shake you, and serenade you with their inspiring, emotional, and highly contagious take on Eastern European-based instrumental dance music! The Chachkas blend traditional klezmer with improvisation, classical, and swing music, stretching and twisting tempos in unexpected ways to create their own irresistible version of this joyful, passionate musicfrom frenzied freylachs to tranquill tanzes. Founded five years ago by violinist Julie Egger, the band also features Barbara Speed on clarinet, Brave Old World's Stuart Brotman on bass and tsimbl (cimbalom), Laurie Lippin on accordion, Tony Phillips on mandolin, and Michael Arrow on drums and percussion. They appear regularly at schools, festivals, synagogues, and numerous private parties throughout the Bay Area, creating a festive atmosphere anywhere they appear. The Red Hot Chachkas recently released their first CD, titled Family Album.
