stellar originals in English & Spanish

Moving with equal grace through folk, country, and Hispanic idioms, Tish Hinojosa makes the boundaries between cultures, languages, and musical genres disappear. With a voice which is both sweet and strong, her genius lies in her ability to fuse popular culture and ethnic tradition into the universals of truth, wonder, and faith. Her latest album, Sign of Truth (Rounder) is a collection of her originals -- richly detailed, delicious slices of life. She has also recently published Cada Niño, Every Child: A Bilingual Songbook for Kids(Cinco Puntos Press), a companion songbook to her award-winning 1996 children's album by the same name. A native of San Antonio who now resides in Austin, Tish remains committed to her own style and cultural roots. As she herself put it, "I still take to the road clinging to the culture, my native tongue wanting to speak and weep and sing. I embrace what has made me American or simply that which draws out humanity. It's all ours to question, to celebrate, and to pass on." Tish is joined on stage by longtime collaborator Marvin Dykhaus on guitar and mandolin.
